Functional Safety

Functional safety ensures that electrical, electronic, and programmable electronic (E/E/PE) safety systems perform as intended to reduce risks to acceptable levels when needed. It applies a full lifecycle perspective — from concept, through design, implementation, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning — ensuring that safety- and business-critical systems are systematically designed, validated, verified and operated. Our services help organisations align with international standards such as IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 to achieve robust, auditable safety performance.

Service information

  • Develop safety system specifications, safety requirements, and performance standards
  • Prepare functional safety management plans, safety requirements specifications (SRS), and verification/validation strategies
  • Conduct independent functional safety assessments, audits, and gap analyses across the safety lifecycle
  • Integrate hazard identification and causal analysis methods (HAZOP, FMEA, fault trees, bowtie analysis)
  • Determine Safety Integrity Level (SIL) requirements using Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) and other risk-based methods
  • Perform SIL verification, hardware/software analysis, and architectural constraints review
  • Provide certified training, workshops, and mentoring to build in-house functional safety competence and governance
  • Align services with international standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511 (process industry), ISO 26262 (automotive) and ISO 13849 (machinery)
